The First ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Premiere Reactions Have Arrived

By Jacob Hall/March 21, 2016 8:01 am EST

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice held its official world premiere last night and as you’d expect, reactions to the film began to trickle out on social media shortly after the credits rolled. While the film quietly screened for select critics earlier that weekend and will continue to screen over the coming days, official reactions from writers and their outlets are under a strict embargo – what we’re looking at here are reactions from normal folks, fanboys, and fangirls who managed to see director Zack Snyder’s new movie before most of the world.

So feel free to treat these reactions as you see fit. Are these honest reactions from average people looking to have a good time at the movies or overblown reactions from people who were caught up in the excitement of a premiere? In either case, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. At least on Twitter. You can scroll through the tweets below, but all of these ladies and gentlemen are very much on the same page. Ben Affleck’s Batman is great, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman steals the whole thing, it’s easily the best superhero movie of 2016, and so on and so forth.

#BatmanvSuperman made me cry real tears. That is all. #BVSPremiere — Terrance The Rock! (@TerrancePryor) March 21, 2016

Got to say, I was pretty impressed by Batman v Superman. Everyone went crazy for Wonder Woman! (she was amaze) #BVSPremiere — Swati Teerdhala (@swatiteerdhala) March 21, 2016

Lots to process and think about, but overall BvS is an excellent movie #BVSPremiere — Ben Kahn: Pre-Order Elle Campbell Wins (@BenTheKahn) March 21, 2016

.@GalGadot’s entrance as Wonder Woman in #BatmanvsSuperman was hands down the best part of the movie. #bvspremiere #whoruntheworld — erin✨ (@msmzrhltn) March 21, 2016

Might be the best superhero movie ever in my book. #BVSPremiere — Kendell🤴🏾 (@theKendellB) March 21, 2016

So Ben Affleck is my favorite Batman now.. #BVSPremiere — Kendell🤴🏾 (@theKendellB) March 21, 2016

No movie this year will top Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice #BVSPremiere #AMAZED #WOW — cory montelus (@cmontelus) March 21, 2016

For those who hated that second trailer (including me) don’t worry. It’s awesome. #BatmanvSuperman #BVSPremiere — Rodrigo Mariano (@Dragonsfoe) March 21, 2016

Batman v. Superman was amazing, better than Man of Steel bring on the DCEU! #BVSPremiere — Rodrigo Mariano (@Dragonsfoe) March 21, 2016

I haven’t felt this giddy after watching a movie since The Avengers. Goosebumps. Everywhere. Need to talk about it ASAP. #BVSPremiere — Rodrigo Mariano (@Dragonsfoe) March 21, 2016

That was fucking AWESOME 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏😭😭😭😭🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 — Nathaniel Brail (@NateBrail) March 21, 2016

However, this wouldn’t be the first time initial response to a geek-friendly film like this has been initially overwhelmingly positive, only for the tide to turn as the film actually hits theaters. Excitement bubbles are a very real thing – getting caught up in the moment and experiencing the thrill of a world premiere can lead to all kinds of overblown reactions. Heck, I’ve been guilty of this in the past and I’m supposed to be a “professional.” I don’t bring this up to rain on anyone’s parade (I’m very excited to see Batman v Superman and I hope I have a reaction similar to these folks), but word on the film has been mixed for a few weeks now. Those weirdos who measure their self-worth on whether or not a movie they like has a high Rotten Tomatoes score need to batten down their personal hatches. It’s unlikely that this film will receive this kind of unanimous praise from critics and it will certainly receive additional scrutiny when normal people start paying to see it in less than a week. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens this Friday, March 25, 2016. And Warner Bros. certain hopes you enjoy it as much as these people, because Zack Snyder is already preparing to shoot Justice League very, very soon.
