The 2014 Summer Movie Wager: The Results Are In, Watch Our Video Podcast
By Germain Lussier/Sept. 9, 2014 10:00 am EST
The summer movie season is officially over and that means its time to wrap up our 2014 Summer Movie Wager. If you are unclear, every year a group of us attempt to predict which films will be the top ten of the summer season. You get points for being as accurate as possible.
Like most summers, 2014 was filled with surprises and familiarity. The biggest surprise? Guardians of the Galaxy. In just four weeks, it outgrossed every other film of the summer including massive hits like Transformers: Age of Extinction, X-Men: Days of the Future Past and more. What wasn’t a surprise? Almost everything else. Of the three contestants (myself, Peter Sciretta and Jeff Cannata) we all got at least 9 of the 10 films in the top ten right. The order was another story and is what finally declared a winner. Below, check out the final point totals and watch our wrap-up video podcast. Okay, first up, here are the top ten films of the summer as of September 1, when our wager ended.
Guardians of the Galaxy – $280 million
Transformers: Age of Extinction -$244 million
