2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominees Announced

By Germain Lussier/Nov. 30, 2010 9:17 am EST

After Winter’s Bone won Best Feature at the first award ceremony of the season Monday, it kept its momentum up Tuesday by getting seven nominations at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. That’s more nominations than any other film on the list, beating out fellow Best Feature nominees 127 Hours, Black Swan, Greenberg, and The Kids Are All Right.

These nominations are only given to films which were produced for under $20 million, so other big award contenders like Inception, The Social Network and Toy Story 3 don’t qualify. The awards will be handed out on February 26 live on IFC with host Joel McHale. Check out the full list of nominations after the jump. Here are all the nominees. Some of my initial thoughts are that I’m happy The Kids Are All Right – which came out over the summer – is still getting some love but am surprised The King’s Speech only got a Best Foreign Film nod. Greenburg? Really? Also, it’s cool to see the awesome Thunder Soul – which will be out next year – as one of the Best Documentary nominees. Finally, how does Bill Murray get a nomination for Get Low but Robert Duvall get snubbed?

What do you think? What stands out?
