2011 Emmy Nominations Announced

By Angie Han/July 14, 2011 8:04 am EST

The 2011 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles by hosts Melissa McCarthy and Joshua Jackson. As always, the list contained a few surprises and a few disappointments, as well as many more predictable choices.

Among the pleasant surprises were outstanding series nods for Parks & Recreation and Friday Night Lights, both excellent (and personal favorite) series that the Emmy folks have overlooked in the past. On an unhappier note, Nick Offerman’s singular performance as Ron Swanson was overlooked, and neither Treme nor Community made a single appearance in the list. Meanwhile, Modern Family picked up four of the six Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy nominations, which… I like the show and all, but surely we could’ve bumped one or two of those men to make room for Offerman, Danny Pudi, Ted Danson, etc.? Read the list of nominees after the jump, and leave your questions, thoughts, and rage-filled rants in the comments.
